Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Zhengyu (Zane) Wang, founded our company and holds the positions of chairman and chief executive officer. In addition to his position at our company, Dr. Wang is the head of the P2P Division of the China Association of Microfinance. Dr. Wang also advised the PBOC on the creation of the National Credit Bureau from 2003 to 2005. Before founding our company, Dr. Wang was the Head of Analytics at Sears Credit from 1995 to 2000, where he oversaw the creation of a credit data warehouse, developed credit scoring models using credit bureau data, and implemented analytically driven consumer credit borrower acquisitions and portfolio management strategies. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Illinois, and his master of science degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Kerry Shen

Junqing (Kerry) Shen, has served as our chief financial officer since 2013. Prior to joining our company, Mr. Shen was the founder and chief executive officer of Neuventure Financial Advisors Ltd., an audit and consulting firm, from 2002 to 2013, where he provided financial due diligence services to private equity and venture capital firms. At Neuventure, Mr. Shen audited Fortune 500 companies, including General Electric, Pepsi and Honeywell. Prior to Neuventure Financial Advisors, Mr. Shen worked as an auditor at Arthur Andersen in the Shanghai and Hamburg offices from 1994 to 2002. Mr. Shen graduated from Shanghai International Studies University, where he was awarded a bachelor’s degree.

Joseph Wang

Chief Strategy Officer

Joseph Wang is a seasoned management consultant, spending many years in McKinsey’s Chicago office, and later in Roland Berger Shanghai office, advising clients in the financial services and technology sectors. Mr. Wang also has held executive positions in publicly listed companies in the US and China. He was a Vice President at Assurant Inc. (NYSE: AIZ) in the US, and General Manager of Group Integrated Financial Services Strategy at Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China (HKSE: 02318; SHSE: 601318). Before joining China Rapid Finance, he was the Chief Operating Officer & Managing Partner at Gopher Asset, a fully owned subsidiary of Noah Holdings Limited (NYSE: NOAH) in China. Mr. Wang graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Grinnell College with a BA in Economics, and received his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Wang is also an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Economics at Fudan University in Shanghai.

Chief Risk Officer

Rex Lv is an expert in consumer lending in China, specializing in micro-credit, consumer lending and small businesses. Mr. Lv has had over 14 years of experience in providing credit risk management solutions to retail banks, including model development, credit policies and credit processing. Prior to joining China Rapid Finance, Mr. Lv held senior risk management positions at Experian Asia Pacific Regional Development Centre and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank (SPDB). Mr. Lv received his MBA and Bachelor’s degree with double majors in Economics and Computer Science from East China University of Science & Technology.

Richard Li

Chief Technology Officer

Richard Li joined China Rapid Finance at its inception and now is the Chief Technology Officer of the company. During his early years with China Rapid Finance, Mr. Li and his team developed the first Credit Decisioning System (CDS) in China and Application Processing System (APS), which were used by many banks in China, including Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Huaxia Bank, and China Guangfa Bank. In addition, Mr. Li leads the development of CRF’s IT infrastructure and has built a team of IT experts who are dedicated to maintaining and advancing the company’s technology capabilities. Mr. Li received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Peking University, and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

Li-fu Chen is an expert in the legal field with more than 20 years of professional experience in the US and Asia-Pacific, where he has worked extensively with law firms, investment banks and publicly listed companies. Before joining China Rapid Finance, Mr. Chen worked as Senior Vice President at Acorn International Inc. (NYSE:ATV) for over ten years. From 1992 to 2002, Mr. Chen worked as an attorney at Arnall Golden & Gregory, Sullivan & Cromwel in the United States and then at Lee and Li in Taiwan. Mr. Chen also worked as an analyst at Goldman Sachs and a legal consultant at Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SGX:T48、ASX: SGT). Mr. Chen received his Juris Doctor Degree from Boston University, Master of Law Degree from University of the Pacific, and Bachelor of Law Degree from National Taiwan University.

Management Experience

Our management, board and advisory teams have significant experience in the credit industry spanning multiple areas of expertise, including loan origination, underwriting technology, fraud prevention, risk management and collections both internationally and in China. In addition, since our inception, we have adopted robust corporate governance policies and practices and engaged extensively with key regulators to help shape best practices in China’s marketplace lending and credit industries.
